Residential Tenancies

Landlords and tenants need to work together. There are few contractual relationships like tenancies whereby the good working relationship between landlord and tenant benefits both parties so fundamentally.

Residential Tenancies

Residential tenancies have become an area of considerable contention in BC in the last few years. Tenants are unnerved by huge increases in rent when they have to move; and landlords are stuck with an ever increasingly hostile legal environment to their rights over their own property. For many landlords this has reached a point where they are simply selling their properties and often therefore, removing the property from the rental pool.

How are tenants protected so that they can have a reasonable home at a reasonable price? And how are landlord’s protected so that the tenancy is a reasonable investment and not a money loser? This is what we do: We aim to bring balance to the legal relationship so that neither the landlord nor the tenant is taken advantage of by the other. Strong and clear contracts that protect both parties from abuse mean tenancies provide each party with what they need, and what is reasonable.
